There are two methods to restore the default settings of printers that have front-panel controls and LCD screens. This guide will first show you how to perform a factory reset on a printer that is not yet powered on. Then, it will explain how to use the printer’s front-panel controls to factory reset the device. This guide is for LCD display equipped PC23d, PC43 & PD43.
1. To factory reset a powered off printer
Please open each step below...
Pull the printer latch(es) forward and open the cover.
While the cover is still open, press and hold the blue Feed / Pause button and turn on the printer.
Keep holding the Feed / Pause button until the LCD displays the option to restore default settings.
Use the front-panel controls to choose which settings to restore, usually all categories are restored, but note that if you select the Network Settings category, any manually entered network settings will be lost. Use the directional keypad to highlight a category and then press the [Enter] key to select or deselect it.
Once the desired categories are selected, press the [down-directional] key until the Continue option is highlighted and press the [Enter] key to begin the reset process.
Confirm that you want to restore and restart the
printer when prompted. The printer will warm boot.
Close the cover as the printer reboots.
Once the printer has finished starting up, use the top-panel controls and LCD to go through the First Run Wizard.
2. To do a factory reset using the controls on the top panel

Navigate to the Menu button > Tools > Restore Defaults using the top-panel controls.
Use the front-panel controls to select which settings to restore. Usually, all categories are selected, but note that manually-entered network settings will be lost if the Network Settings category is selected. Use the directional keypad to highlight a category and then press the [Enter] key to select or deselect it.
Once the desired categories are selected, press the [down-directional] key until the Continue arrow is highlighted and press the [Enter] key to start the reset.
Confirm that you want to restore and restart the printer when prompted. The printer will warm boot.
Once the printer has finished starting up, use the front-panel controls and LCD to go through the First Run Wizard.
